Project Summary

The Automated Guideway Transit System (AGTS) is an automated people mover operating within the secure areas of Denver International Airport (DIA). The system transports passengers 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

The South Terminal Switch Addition is located within the highly secure areas of Jeppesen Terminal on Levels 3 and 4. Milender White built and installed the new train system improvements while full airport and aircraft operations were underway.

The planning and execution of the work required daily coordination with numerous entities operating at the airport including Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Bombardier Transportation (the AGTS operator), United Airlines and Southwest Airlines to name a few.

Milender White planned and completed the work in two phases to allow for the uninterrupted operation of the AGTS and to ensure safety during construction. We used building information modeling (BIM) to develop a three dimensional model with an access plan and sequencing plan. The model was used to gain a better understanding of the project scope and to communicate the approach to subcontractors during preconstruction.
