Milender White recently renovated the Huston Miller Cottage at the Tennyson Center for Children, a residential living space designed to support children who live on campus full time. Completed as a charitable project, the renovation was made possible through donated time and labor from the Milender White team and project partners, supporting the Tennyson Center for Children’s mission to serve youth in need, focusing on creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for the youth who need stability and care.
The Huston Miller Cottage serves 16 children, providing 16 private bedrooms, eight bathrooms, offices and storage spaces for staff, and several shared spaces, including a gymnasium! The renovation modernized the building while keeping the needs of its residents at the forefront—delivering a space that feels secure, fresh, and truly livable.
The scope of work included a full interior remodel, with new flooring, paint, tile, cabinetry, vanities, plumbing fixtures, doors, and hardware installed throughout. Critical building systems were also upgraded, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems, ensuring the cottage meets current safety standards and supports long-term durability.
Above all, the Huston Miller Cottage renovation is about impact. Delivered in support of the Tennyson Center for Children’s mission, the completed space provides a renewed sense of comfort and dignity for the children who call it home offering a safe, thoughtfully updated environment designed to support their everyday lives and well-being.
