The Southern California chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., (ABC), the national construction trades association, has honored Milender White (MW) with its annual Eagle Award for Excellence in Construction. This is the third Eagle Award that ABC has given to MW for its work in Southern California.
This represents the fifth award for the winning project, Citrus Crossing. This 127-unit senior housing community, built for Meta Housing and designed by AC Martin, is a certified LEED™ Platinum project built to use 30% less water and energy than comparable apartment buildings.
Located at 900 E. Broadway in the heart of Glendale, Citrus Crossing is a five-story podium building with a clean, modern aesthetic. From courtyards to amenity spaces to individual apartments, the project integrates its city environment with commanding views of the foothills and San Gabriel Mountains. Environmentally friendly building materials and first-rate ventilation systems help to maximize fresh air indoors for the residents, and permeable surfaces and rainwater harvesting in the landscaping and hardscaping cut water consumption.
The Glendale Housing Authority (GHA) and Meta Housing received more than 4,000 rental applications for Citrus Crossing prior to the ribbon cutting for the building. The GHA has helped to develop over 1,200 units of affordable housing for low-income renters and homeowners, and MW was proud to be a construction partner in this effort.
Earlier this year, Citrus Crossing earned national and regional honors – an Affordable Housing Finance (AHF) Gold Nugget Award for Affordable Housing Excellence, and a Los Angeles Business Journal Commercial Real Estate Award (Bronze Award, Affordable Housing Category).
