Milender White Breaks Ground on 30Pearl

December 13, 2019 — Boulder, Colorado

Today, Milender White (MW), in partnership with Boulder Housing Partners (BHP), celebrated an early milestone in a three-year goal to ensure that 15% of all Boulder residential developments qualify as permanently affordable. Joining Boulder Housing Partners, the City of Boulder and Coburn Partners, Milender White officially broke ground on the 30Pearl project—a three-building, 120-unit permanently affordable housing complex. The 30Pearl community will provide homes for low-income residents, as well as formerly homeless and individuals with developmental disabilities.

“It has truly been a pleasure to collaborate with Boulder Housing Partners, the City of Boulder and Coburn Partners on the planning and design of 30Pearl,” said Darren Hinton, Construction Executive and Senior Vice President. “Milender White looks forward to building a truly integrated, vibrant, and inclusive housing community for Boulder.”

The project, part of the Boulder Junction neighborhood, includes not only an accessible housing development but also a commercial space for local business owners and nonprofits, pedestrian access to public transportation and gathering spaces. The complex provides residents with shared rooftop spaces, public art, underground parking and event space. 30Pearl is best defined by one word – community.

Jeremy Durham, Executive Director of Boulder Housing Partners, stated: “On behalf of the 120 individuals and families that will move into this community in a year and one-half and will be the direct beneficiaries of the $1.3 million in annual rent-burden relief, I want to thank Milender White for making sure that we are designing a project that we can afford to build and that will provide incredible quality to the people who will move into the community.”

Milender White will attain Enterprise Green Communities certification on the project with features such an electric-only energy use, solar readiness, customer-sited technology, and electric car charging. Residents will receive Eco Passes and have access to over 700 bikes spaces and on-site car share spaces.  Milender White’s prefabrication processes will also ensure superior quality housing units built on a safer, more efficient, and sustainable job site.
