Nest56 at Denargo Market Honored at Denver Mayor’s Design Awards

Milender White (MW), in partnership with Pennrose LLC, Rivet Development Partners LLC, SAR+ Architects and TGTHR, was honored last night as the recipient of the 2025 Mayor’s Design Award for best new construction in affordable housing for Nest56 @ Denargo Market. The project was also named the runner-up to The People’s Choice award, based on the number of public votes of appreciation.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s presentation expressed how Nest56’s thoughtful, intentional design can help provide high-quality housing solutions that lift our vulnerable communities, providing a sense of place and space to foster growth and connection. The community offers 56 one and two-bedroom apartments for residents ages 18-24 who are transitioning out of the foster care system or have recently experienced homelessness. It also provides support services, including mental health resources, education, life-skills development, financial literacy training and career development, in partnership with TGTHR. The 45,000 sq. ft. structure also includes office and retail space for residents, as well as an artist studio and exhibition space operated by RedLine Contemporary Art Center.

The building’s aesthetics match the mission of lifting young people to start a new life, with the beautiful ground-floor mural by artist Thomas Evans, a.k.a. Detour, and the gathering space that reflects the warmth of the color and the power of togetherness.

“We are incredibly honored to have been part of a project like Nest56 that genuinely impacts the lives of young adults in Denver,” said Darren Hinton, Construction Executive and Senior Vice President of Milender White.
