Milender White’s Tellus on Carson project received the Gold Award for Best New Affordable Housing Project at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2026 Commercial Real Estate Awards, held in late February at the Biltmore Hotel.
MW delivered Tellus on Carson 142 days ahead of schedule thanks to its efficient project management. The $74 million project went from NTP to TCO in just under two years. Comprised of two buildings and 230 units, Tellus was MW’s fourth project for Meta Housing Corporation, a major California developer of affordable apartment communities. Y&M Architects provided the design.
This was MW’s fifth affordable housing completion in Southern California in a two-year period; those five projects delivered 847 total units.
“The Tellus on Carson project was a true collaborative effort between Milender White, Meta Housing, Y&M Architects, AMJ Construction Management, Inc., and the broader design team,” notes MW Construction Executive Bret Bemiller. “Together, we proactively resolved critical challenges, streamlined design coordination, and built a strong foundation of mutual respect that will extend into future project opportunities.”
The Los Angeles Business Journal CRE Awards celebrate the most impactful projects built in Los Angeles County within the past year. MW’s Citrus Crossing project picked up a Bronze Award in the Affordable Housing category in 2025.
