NEWPORT BEACH, CA – JUNE 17, 2025 – Citrus Crossing (pictured above) and 619 Westlake, two Southern California affordable housing communities built by Milender White (MW), won Gold Nugget awards at the 2025 Pacific Coast Builders Conference held June 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The awards are juried and presented by Affordable Housing Finance, a national journal reporting on the sector.
Citrus Crossing was one of eight affordable housing developments from around the nation to win a Gold Nugget grand award. The 127-unit Glendale project was honored as the Best Affordable 55+ Housing Community. MW completed it for Meta Housing Corporation in summer 2024, and AC Martin was the architect. The LEED® Platinum community houses seniors age 62+ who are earning 30-70% of area median income.
619 Westlake, another collaboration with Meta Housing Corporation, received an Award of Merit in the Best Supportive/Transitional Housing category. MW delivered this 78-unit community in fall 2023. The Green Point Rated Gold project is in the heart of the Westlake neighborhood just west of downtown Los Angeles, and 50% of its units are designated as permanent supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness, with the rest priced for households earning 30-60% of the area’s median income. The Architects Collective designed the project.
The Gold Nugget Awards are a national competition, and the 2025 awards were chosen from 675 entries.
