Milender White and Partners Awarded Two Housing Colorado 2023 Eagle Awards

May 25, 2023, Arvada, CO

At Milender White (MW), we have a saying: “We don’t just build buildings, we build community.” We are proud to announce that Housing Colorado (HC) has given two of its 2023 Eagle Awards to apartment communities built by MW – the John Parvensky Stout Street Recuperative Care and Legacy Lofts, built for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH), and AVi at Olde Town, built for Foothills Regional Housing (FRH).

MW collaborated with FRH, Van Meter Williams Pollack Architecture and Urban Ventures LLC to deliver AVi, which was developed with help from 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from the State of Colorado. MW, Christopher Carvell Architects, Renaissance Housing Development Corporation and CCH partnered on the Stout Street effort.

The John Parvensky Stout Street Recuperative Care and Legacy Lofts is a one-of-a-kind development. Located in Denver’s Arapahoe Square neighborhood, the building contains both 98 apartments and a 75-bed assisted living center. In addition to the comforts of home, community members experiencing homelessness can find support services here, including post-respite care for acute medical or behavioral health conditions with access to the adjacent Stout Street Health Center. The building includes medical exam suites and “step-down” hospital beds in semi-private spaces. This high-rise structure, with architectural details suggestive of a market-rate apartment community, was built with health in mind – it was designed and constructed to meet or exceed Enterprise Green Communities guidelines.

AVi at Olde Town is both Arvada’s newest affordable housing development and a community resource. Thirty of its 100 units are dedicated housing for youth aging out of foster care and facing housing insecurity, thanks to partnership with CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. Ten additional units are dedicated to unhoused veterans in partnership with the VA (www.va.gov/homeless/hud-vash.asp). AVi provides not only a place to call home but also services for its residents. CASA’s Youth Alliance program provides coaching in health, employment, education, and other areas, and thanks to the efforts of Foothills Regional Housing, CASA, and the VA, qualified residents will receive vouchers for housing stability.

Construction projects do have social impact, and at MW, we recognize the positive impact that thoughtfully designed and built projects can make. “With Colorado being one of the fastest growing states in the nation, and so many residents priced out of housing options, Milender White is dedicated to being part of the solution for quality affordable housing for our communities,” states MW  We are honored to create these purposeful living projects with our partners and these Eagle Awards are a great recognition for the time, effort and commitment every team member puts into these projects.”
