Last year, women made up 11% of the construction industry workforce in America. At Milender White (MW), we are consistently exceeding that percentage as we focus on growing the number of women who work for us as part of our vision of a more inclusive, resilient, and equitable future for our company and industry.
This year, we celebrated Women in Construction Week (March 6-10) in both our Rocky Mountain and Southern California districts in conjunction with our peers at Graham. The workweek featured a full calendar of events for our team members: a task force strategy session devoted to recruiting more women to MW, a job site tour at our NOVEL RiNo project, WIC lunches, and training sessions on how to recognize bias and advance our focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.
More women are entering the construction industry with STEAM education, attracted not only by the pay but also by the intellectual and emotional rewards that come from the teamwork and creativity involved in building each project.
