Milender White Makes a Much-Loved Seniors Community Even Better

September 14, 2021, Denver, CO

A mile west of downtown Denver and a short walk from Sloan’s Lake, you’ll find Denver Metro Village … a well-loved affordable senior living facility newly expanded and remodeled by Milender White (MW).

In 2019, MW partnered with MGL Partners and Santulan Architecture to renovate the 18-story Denver Metro Village tower built in 1971. As part of the renovation, the construction team added a much-needed four-story parking structure, commercial/retail space, and 19 new senior living units. The old and new Denver Metro Village structures are now linked by an iconic fifth-floor bridge.

“The vision and goals of the Denver Metro Village board have been incredible, and we’re grateful they put their trust in the MW team and us to meet every expectation. The 50-year-old building was in amazing condition before we stepped foot into it. When touring the facility for the first time, I could see the love and care put into [it] … the challenge was not the upgrade, but instead improving the building to modern code standards and bettering the residents’ experiences,” said Greg Glade, Partner and Co-Founder of MGL Partners.

Denver Metro Village was occupied during the renovation, and its staff worked hard to keep more than 100 residents comfortable and safe as the work proceeded. Residents were considerately moved to either temporary lodging or a lower floor within the tower until renovations to floors above were completed.

“The MW team has truly enjoyed working on the Denver Metro Village project. As a contractor, we don’t normally get the opportunity to engage with the residents we build for and see the impact of our work on their lives. This project was unique because we had the residents onsite the entire time, meeting our team members and sharing the incredible stories they have,” said Darren Hinton, Construction Executive & Senior Vice President for Milender White.

Thanks to Milender White and its developer and architect partners, Denver Metro Village is newly positioned as a gem in its West Colfax neighborhood – a great way to start its next 50 years.
