Milender White constructed a 50 mgd raw water conveyance system, extending over 34 miles of piping with a diameter of 60 inches for Aurora Water. The system included 15 trenchless crossings (pipeline tunnels) with casing diameters up to 84 inches. The pipeline was mortar-lined and had a polyurethane-coated steel pipe with an impressed cathodic protection system. The steel carrier pipe was installed with full grouting of annular space, zero leaking joints, and under waterways with depths of up to 50 LF. The team overcame difficult soils conditions (running sands, gravel and bedrock) during boring and bore pits varied in depth from 20-50 ft. MW prepared and executed dewatering plans for 10 tunnels and all drives were completed accurately with tolerances within 0.5 inches. The team completed the Aurora Prairie Water Project several months in advance of the schedule.
