Working with Capstone Development Partners and Shears Adkins Rockmore (SAR), Milender White (MW) renovated apartments and townhomes in Mines Park, the Colorado School of Mines housing community built for upper-division and graduate students. In all, 212 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units containing 400 beds were upgraded in 19 buildings along Infinity Circle.
The renovations at Mines Park were a prelude to new construction. Subsequently, MW, SAR and Capstone designed and built The Village at Mines Park, which added more than 1,000 beds of new student housing for Mines. For both projects, Capstone, SAR, and MW worked to create a community with a distinct sense of place and an enhanced quality of living. The Mines Park renovations and the Village at Mines Park were both designed and built to achieve LEED Gold certification.
Unit upgrades at Mines Park included new air-conditioning equipment, thermostats and water heaters, light and plumbing fixtures, luxury vinyl floor tile, countertops, sinks, and major appliances. The renovations to these Type V-A and Type V-B structures were completed in summer 2024, coinciding with the Colorado School of Mines’ 150th anniversary.
