Project Summary

Milender White (MW) provided design-build services for this 356-unit apartment community serving the North Hills neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. Mission Gateway is one of Southern California’s largest new affordable housing developments, responding to the pressing need for workforce housing in this heavily populated area. The MW preconstruction team appointed an elite group of design consultants and design-build contractors to expertly blend construction and design skills to achieve the most efficient solutions to meet owner requirements.

Located on Sepulveda Boulevard just north of Parthenia Street, Mission Gateway offers affordable studio to four-bedroom apartments. The 386,540 sq. ft. complex, encompassing two buildings on 4.35 acres, also has a ground-level garage with 311 parking stalls plus ample bicycle parking. Amenities include a recreation room, children’s playroom, pet spa, fitness center, event/gathering spaces, and a splash pad. The project is a five-level Type V-A and I-A on grade.

MW has joined Meta Housing as a partner in its mission to be a significant builder of supportive and low-income rental developments in Los Angeles. MW and Meta have also teamed up on three other Southland affordable housing projects: 619 Westlake in Los Angeles, Citrus Crossing in Glendale, and West Carson, adjacent to Torrance.

Mission Gateway won a 2023 Eagle Award for Excellence in Construction (residential / multifamily) from the Southern California Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and a 2023 San Fernando Valley Business Journal Gold Award for best new affordable housing community.
