General contractor Milender White (MW) and global real estate developer Tishman Speyer are becoming major players in the Santa Monica apartment market. Yesterday marked the groundbreaking at 711 Colorado, the first of eight communities in Tishman Speyer’s planned Santa Monica Collection. This portfolio of multifamily properties will add more than 600 units of new market rate and affordable 711 Colorado housing to the city’s downtown.
The 7-story, 56-unit 711 Colorado, designed by KFA Architecture, will complete in Q4 2024. This building will offer affordable senior housing and contain a ground-floor café.
In March, MW will begin work on projects two and three in the Collection, located at 1430 Lincoln and 1650 Lincoln. These 5-story projects are market rate.Half the ground floor (13,000 s.f.) of 1430 Lincoln will feature retail; Studio T-Square 2 is the architect for this 97-unit community, which will combine high-end apartments with engaging shops and 1430 Lincoln cafes destined to appeal to commercial as well as residential tenants. The 98-unit 1650 Lincoln, designed by KFA, will also have retail shops at ground level, offering a stylish streetscape and 6,000+ sq. ft. of restaurant/retail space; it is across the street from Catherine Santa Monica, a multiple-award-winning project completed in 2022 by MW. MW is slated to complete 1430 Lincoln and 1650 Lincoln in the first 1650 Lincoln half of 2025.
MW project leaders and representatives from Tishman Speyer and KFA Architecture celebrated these new multifamily efforts with a groundbreaking ceremony held on February 27 at the 711 Colorado project site.
Later this year, MW begins building a fourth Santa Monica Collection project: the 8-story 501 Broadway, designed by KFA.
