MW’s Mission Gateway Wins Affordable Housing Award

Saluting a construction project that directly responds to the workforce housing shortage, the San Fernando Valley Business Journal just gave Milender White (MW), Meta Housing and Togawa Smith Martin its 2023 Gold Award for affordable housing for Mission Gateway.

This 356-unit project in North Hills, one of the largest all-affordable apartment communities built recently in the Southland, was a design-build effort. MW saved Meta Housing more than $1 million in construction costs through its rigorous preconstruction approach, delivering a two-building project with a welcoming and family-centered environment.

Mission Gateway offers its residents many amenities – a fitness room, business center, multiple courtyards featuring barbeques and picnic areas, a splash pad for kids, and a dog run. During the build, the project team connected to the community with a pair of assemblies at neighboring Langdon Elementary School, emphasizing education and how it can lead to great careers in construction.

MW has three more collaborations with Meta in the works: 619 Westlake just west of downtown L.A., Citrus Crossing in Glendale, and West Carson near Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
