Project Summary

Milender White (MW) is helping Hope the Mission and Community Development Resource Group transform a vacant budget motel into interim housing. Project Homekey, the State of California’s fast-track initiative for these transformations, is providing crucial funding.

MW is making tenant improvements to the property in phase one, which will followed by a second phase of new construction. Phase one includes upgrades to some of the 111 motel rooms, improvements to one laundry room and conversion of another to a break room, and renovation of the office. Phase two involves the construction of the North Hills Community Center designed by Kadre Architects. This net-zero building will be a welcoming sunlight-infused space for community engagement.

Hope the Mission, headquartered in the San Fernando Valley, provides housing and homeless services in five Southern California counties. Kadre Architects, hailed by Fast Company as one of the nation’s most innovative architecture firms, designs emergency and supportive housing. MW welcomes the chance to assist both Hope and Kadre in working for these vital goals in Los Angeles.
