NEON – Dead Lake Tower

Demopolis, AL

Type: Government, Utility & Infrastructure

Owner: National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON)

Architect: Leo A Daly

Project Summary

Milender White built this data-collection facility for the National Science Foundation’s National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) and Battelle. This project included the construction of a 138-foot high steel tower equipped with scientific monitoring equipment and a corresponding instrument hut to house the data collection tools. The area immediately surrounding the tower and instrument hut was preserved to maintain its environmental integrity during construction. Elevated boardwalks were installed around the tower and hut for access and to minimize site disruption.
