NEON – Klemme Range Research Station Tower

10975 N. 2200 Road
Clinton, OK

Type: Government, Utility & Infrastructure

Owner: National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON)

Architect: Leo A. Daly

Project Summary

This project included the construction of a 26-foot steel tower equipped with scientific monitoring equipment and a corresponding instrument hut to house data collection tools. This is one of a series of towers that Milender White built for the National Ecological Observatory Network, which monitors ecological patterns, changes and variability from more than 80 field stations across the nation. The tower is within the Klemme Research Station, used by Oklahoma State University students and faculty for research. The area immediately surrounding the tower and instrument hut was preserved to maintain its environmental integrity during construction. Elevated boardwalks were installed around the tower and hut to facilitate access, and to minimize site disruption.
